Adult Counseling & EMDR Therapy

You excel in your life and your work. Or at least others think so. You put on a show for your colleagues and family, so they don’t really know what’s going on under the layers. You’re protective of revealing the real you to others for fear of judgement. You want to belong and crave others’ approval. The real struggle is that you feel lost and confused in what your next steps are in life. You need to make a move, but you’re not sure how. You’ve tried talking with friends and family, but they seem to just tell you what you want to hear.

Counseling support for adults is normal. Whatever challenges you face, your counselor will be the support you need. You will be able to work through your thoughts and feelings through talking, evaluating, and exploring how to best meet your goals. Your therapy will be customized to fit your needs. You will receive a warm, accepting, and non-judgemental environment to help you gain positive coping skills to better your relationships, your career, and your life.

Some common difficulties adults face include:

  • Anxiety / Depression
  • Life Changes
  • Relationship Problems
  • Grief / Loss
  • Family Issues
  • Anger / Irritability
  • Trauma

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is another way to help the brain and body process stress and cope with experiences. Through the use of lateral eye movements or hand-held tappers that vibrate, your brain is allowed to process your experiences, stressors and trauma. When you feel “stuck” in the same area of life, EMDR can help the body heal from your past experiences. Your anxiety, stress, intrusive thoughts, nightmares will be addressed and reduced.

Adults who have difficulty with some of the following, respond well with EMDR:

  • Anxiety / Depression
  • Childhood Trauma
  • Accidents / Natural Disasters
  • Witness to Violence
  • Loss / Injury of Loved One
  • Anger / Irritability
  • Sleep Disturbances
